Designing a Web3 Game in 5 Days: DRX Telegram Mini-App Project

UI UX Project

DRX Telegram Mini-App (2024)

What is DRX?

DRX is a Web3-based company headquartered in Indonesia. It has launched a crypto product called DRX Token—an Ethereum-based cryptocurrency designed to build an inclusive and sustainable digital sports ecosystem. By integrating blockchain, gamification, and community utility, DRX creates a bridge between sports enthusiasts, athletes, and Web3 technology.

What is Telegram Mini-App?

Telegram Mini Apps for crypto are web-based applications that run within the Telegram platform, allowing users to interact with crypto services without leaving the app. They function like lightweight, integrated tools inside Telegram—making it easier for users to access features like crypto payments, blockchain-based games, or crypto trading platforms.

Problem Statement:

Many Web3 projects struggle to build consistent user engagement and retention, especially in platforms with limited interactive experiences. Users often lose interest due to a lack of gamified incentives or accessible, fun ways to participate in the ecosystem. This leads to low activity, reduced token utility, and weak community involvement.

Possible Solution:

DRX Telegram Mini-App offers a simple, gamified experience where users tap to earn DRX Points—convertible into DRX Tokens. By integrating engaging game mechanics within Telegram, the app boosts user interaction, increases token utility, and strengthens community participation in a fun, accessible way.

Idea to Interface: 5 Days

Completed in just 5 days — from concept to handover.
I delivered the entire UI/UX design within a tight timeframe, ensuring clarity, functionality, and developer-ready assets without compromising quality or user experience.

About the Project:

My Role

as a UI/UX Designer, I designed the user interface and user flow, ensuring a smooth and intuitive experience within the Telegram Mini-App environment, while collaborating with developers for optimal performance and Web3 integration.

Key Features

The app includes a tap-based game mechanic, real-time point tracking, and a simple DRX Point-to-Token conversion system—designed with a clean, minimalist UI.

Impact & Result

The mini-app successfully increased user engagement, improved token activity, and created a scalable gamified experience for the DRX ecosystem.

The Guidelines

Understand the Requests & Problems:

Before jumping into design, I dug into the core target and context of the app:

  • Who’s it for? Web3 and crypto enthusiasts who are always on the lookout for the next big project—whether it’s about to launch or already live.
  • When do they use it? Anytime, anywhere. No limits.
  • Where are they from? Global reach. Crypto knows no borders.

Defining Research Questions:

To keep the design focused and effective, I narrowed the key questions down to:

  1. How can we design a simple yet futuristic interface that’s easy to grasp in seconds?

  2. What features will keep users engaged and coming back—like quests, leaderboard, and referrals?

  3. How do we make the app intuitive for both Web3 beginners and experienced users?

  4. How can we ensure fast and seamless development within a tight 5-day deadline?

  5. What UI patterns encourage growth, competitiveness, and organic user acquisition?

Design Research:

In this phase, I explored multiple ideas and directions through sketches, and team discussions. The goal was to identify key features, simplify the user journey, and ensure each solution aligned with both user needs and business objectives. This process helped define the product’s core experience before jumping into wireframes.

User Research:
Conducted quick surveys with 10 Web3 enthusiasts to understand their preferences, revealing a desire for gamified experiences and easy token conversion.

And here are some of the design references I gathered after several brainstorming sessions with the Marketing and IT teams:

The Wireframe:

After gathering design references, I focused on creating wireframes that would later be discussed with the team. I kept the structure simple and straightforward due to the tight 5-day project timeline.

High Fidelity (Hi-Fi) UI

Despite the tight 5-day deadline, I aimed to deliver a futuristic and visually engaging interface that remains simple and easy to use—for both users and developers. To achieve this, I incorporated Glassmorphism elements across several UI components such as tab sections and buttons, giving the app a sleek, modern feel while keeping it lightweight and intuitive.

With limited time, simplicity and clarity became key. The UI was designed to help users quickly understand the gameplay while allowing developers to build features efficiently. This approach created a win-win solution: fast execution, futuristic visuals, and user-friendly interaction.

Several additional features were implemented to boost user engagement:

  • Quest Menu: Motivates users to complete in-game tasks, creating a sense of challenge and achievement.

  • Leaderboard Menu: Sparks healthy competition by allowing users to track rankings and strive to be the best.

  • Referral Menu: Encourages organic growth by rewarding users with DRX Points (convertible to DRX Tokens) for inviting friends—helping the DRX community expand rapidly and sustainably.

Goals:
To design a futuristic, engaging, and easy-to-develop user interface that increases user retention, encourages competitiveness, and accelerates organic growth through built-in social and reward-driven features.

Impact & Results:

  • User Engagement: Increased daily active users by 40% within the first week.
  • Token Conversion: 25% of users converted DRX Points to Tokens within the first month.
  • our Telegram community grew to over 158,167 active users within just 3 months.

Conclusion:

Designing the DRX Telegram Mini-App was a fast-paced yet rewarding challenge. Within just 5 days, I transformed an early concept into a futuristic, functional interface tailored for Web3 users. By combining gamification, sleek visuals, and thoughtful UX, the app successfully engaged users while remaining developer-friendly.

This project reminded me that great design isn’t just about how it looks — but how it works, how it performs under pressure, and how it connects with its audience. And that’s exactly what I delivered.
